Medical Cannabis Would Start In 2025 For Kentucky

Have you heard that Kentucky is moving forward towards a greener future? Have you heard how medical cannabis is on the ballot for this session, which is just days away from finishing. It was on Tuesday that the 'House' passed  Senate Bill 47. This bill is being put together in order to create a new section of KRS Chapter 218A to make possession of a personal use quantity of cannabis exempt from civil or criminal penalty; amend KRS 218A.010 to define "cannabis," "personal use quantity of cannabis," and "cannabis accessory"; amend KRS 218A.1422 regarding cannabis possession to conform; amend KRS 218A.1423 regarding cannabis cultivation to conform; amend KRS 218A.500 regarding drug paraphernalia to exempt personal use cannabis accessories; amend KRS 218A.1421 on cannabis trafficking to exempt personal use quantities; amend KRS 138.872 to exclude personal use quantities from cannabis stamp tax; amend KRS 218A.410 and 533.030 to conform; create a new section of KRS Chapter 431 to allow expungement of certain convictions relating to cannabis; apply Section 10 retroactively.

Let's break this all down- Kentucky does not want to make the same mistakes with legalization as other states. This bill is repetitive in many ways in order to carefully outline the legislation in ways that won't be taken advantage of. This bill defines personal flower would be 8 ounces or less. Thanks to what Beshear recently did if you meet the requirements and have a note from your health care provider you can drive to Illinois and get you some recreational cannabis. Here's the truth- at this time MANY health care providers ar not getting involved with the "C WORD" aka CANNABIS!

There's a lot that can change between now and January 2025. At this time the votes could go great and KY could say yes to medical cannabis , the first sale wouldn't take place till 2025. The good news is there are defenitely new faces saying yes to medical cannabis in the Bluegrass State.

Thanks for reading and if you hear anyone claiming they got a medical card here in Kentucky it just isn't possible. The system, the software, it's not in place at any level in the state from business to legal, so don't go celebrating like it's blunts abraud!

1 step at a time for sure. Waiting to see the final turn out of it all, as of now they are in recess! Then it should pass the House which then it’ll go to Andy’s Desk!
