Kentucky is beyond behind when it comes to cannabis. Adult use is what Stewart's Passion is advocating for and yes we would love to get involved with medical breakthroughs and fundraising for community healing. Cheering for that "beautiful one day" is what seems to happen a lot. To be frank- let's look at some of what the facts are. Before all that I'd like to put this out there; I'm open to all discussion when it comes to weed. My main point in this one is the lies, the bureaucracy and unnecessary red tape. There is no market here in Kentucky! Before the greedy ones get involved, can we just make it a rule that 88% of all cannabis companies that operate sales or manufacturing in Kentucky, must be owned and operated by those who have lived in Kentucky for 7 or more years. Any application related to cannabis business cannot cost more that 15 times that of our state minimum wage, which is currently $7.25.
I figured to get a bit more understanding of why Kentucky has not legalized cannabis yet I should go to a NORML Meeting. they had a Q&A With Charles Booker October 21st of this year and I went! Charles Booker has a strong stance on decriminalizing Cannabis and legalizing Cannabis in Kentucky both Medically as well as recreationally. I went there to just listen and see for myself how NORML approaches cannabis in Kentucky. Urine Testing coming to an end was one issue that was raised. The inability to hire what would normally be an excellent candidate for a job could simply trip with a false positive and there's nothing the hiring agent can do. The Q&A quickly became a variety of topics from banning AR15's to Abortion Rights. Though I had questions I felt it was best to respect the importance of the medical needs, and that was the overwhelming notion I got, most that do favor Cannabis in Kentucky that showed up, where there over legal matters like urine tests, or debilitating medical conditions. I would love to meet with NORML & talk about the business side of cannabis in Kentucky as well as the "Common Wealth " aspect of this plant and the legalization of it.
