Kentucky History In The Making: From Federal Landmark To Landmark Hustle: THE POST DISPENSARY BEVER DAM KENTUCKY

Kentucky History In The Making: From Federal Landmark To Landmark Hustle: THE POST DISPENSARY BEVER DAM KENTUCKY

Kentucky has Opened Its Doors to Business in the Medical Cannabis Department!! Doors swung open this morning at The Post Dispensary, in Bever Dam KY. The lines where long. As I talked to patrons waiting to get out the cold, and their hands on some product we all began realizing, nobody knew what to expect. This of course added to the emotional rollercoaster revolved around "waiting for weed." Many traveled from Hardin County area, as well as Glasgow.

The line created an S and after about 2 hours I myself began to see the light at the end of the tunnel. There was discussions that began inside the lobby, as a customer was under the impression Health Insurance was covering the price of weed, which it does not. A few people I might add did stand on this as fact so, yes for a half second, even I, thought wow, the weeds freaking free. I did however uncover there is conversation, for future plans that, insurance may cover the medical card, (the cheapest part) of being a patient.

What did the staff say? I spoke to the owners and "Busy" was how they chose to name how the days has felt for them,  it was busy from 6 am on. Over 100 orders processed in an hour and things where truly Just getting started. The girls laughed as we called them out legal drug dealers, in fact one bud tender grew up just down the road- this was indeed a full circle moment for this flower power child! The staff was mighty respectful, and just as excited as me. I personally thought it was a bit of a slow take off, but over all professional and astounding to take part in it.

Every party has a party pooper and well, street math is always going to invite the thought of pricing, and whether or not you got your bang for your buck! Let's start with availability, there was really 0 choices if you want to get high. Your either getting the 8th of flower for $50 or that's it, everything else today was shorts beanies and grinders, rolling trays and smoking essentials. There where those who waited in line for hours not realizing the menu was now open online. Once I showed them the menu, they couldn't hold their truth back, this state had this and that state could get that, and they are not wrong.

When I arrived at The Post Dispensary, the line wrapped around the building. It was a slow process getting in, and questions on what was available began circulating, as patrons verbalized their 420 wish list. As more people realized there was a longer wait than expected, a few flocks broke from the line. I personally witnessed 6 bodies eject, and go home or elsewhere due to both speed of the line, and available products.

What really happened at The Post Dispensary today is that the people of Kentucky won. Yes, there is not a galore of product yet. It's day one people. The Post Dispensary chose to have a soft launch today and here is why I think this was for the better of Kentuckians.

  - Had they waited till February, or March, the same weed that's sold today would be just that much older, on the shelf.

  • This soft launch is in the best interior the business for The Post because once word gets out they have the half pound bags, the lines will be built by patrons with tents and heaters. They need to have a clear direction for the traffic, and today gave them the inside look where managing the flow of traffic can be improved.

Cutting a whole in the wall and allowing for drive thru pick up would be quite essential in my opinion but what happened today is emotional for many, from frustration with the prices, to waiting in the cold, to being greeted like o'l friends by the Post Team Members, you earned your 8th's if you came out, and to me it's an honor being a witness to the green front lines of Kentuckians Cannabis Culture.

The fact we just, sat outside not knowing when to go in was kinda cray. I was one that ended up leaving before I made it inside, now reading this, should I have honestly stayed? It’s a serious question, I kind of feel left out. Will they have more tomorrow?
