Cannabis Jobs in Kentucky: Opportunities Blooming at Centaurus Farms

Exciting developments are underway in Monticello, Kentucky, as construction begins on the state's first purpose-built medical cannabis cultivation facility, Centaurus Farms. This $25 million project is expected to create between 75 and 100 jobs, offering promising opportunities for job seekers in the region.

Who's Behind Centaurus Farms?

Centaurus Farms is being led by John Paolella, a Colorado-based cannabis entrepreneur. The facility is being built by Walker Land Company out of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky. They acquired the full Wayne County Industrial Park to launch this operation. This project is part of Kentucky’s official rollout of medical cannabis following the state’s legalization in January 2025.

Project Timeline and Job Opportunities

Construction is already underway, and the facility is expected to begin operations by January 2026. Early infrastructure work should wrap up by late 2025. Job roles in cultivation, management, and logistics are anticipated to pay around $62,500 per year, drawing interest from skilled workers across the region.

Community Impact

Monticello’s Mayor, Kenny Catron, expressed full support for the project, emphasizing the city's readiness and the long-term economic boost it will provide. City officials have noted the project aligns with their development goals and praised the collaboration with Centaurus Farms and Walker Land Company. The community is preparing to welcome the industry's arrival with open arms and job-readiness programs.

Looking Ahead

Centaurus Farms represents more than just a cultivation center—it’s a major turning point for Kentucky’s cannabis industry. With operations scheduled to begin in early 2026, locals are encouraged to prepare for job openings in the coming months. This could be the start of a green-collar wave for the Commonwealth, and Monticello is at the forefront.
