4 Movies We'd Absolutely Blaze Up For If Theaters Became Cannabis Consumption Lounges
There has been a lot of discussion across the country about cannabis lounges, social consumption spaces, and the future of cannabis culture. While Kentucky still has a long way to go before movie theaters become legal consumption lounges, it got us thinking: If theaters allowed responsible adult cannabis consumption, which upcoming movies would be the perfect match?
Between July and October 2026, four major releases are set to dominate conversations among movie fans. From ancient legends to zombies and superheroes, these films could make for some unforgettable theater experiences.
1. The Odyssey (July 17, 2026)
Directed by Christopher Nolan, The Odyssey is based on the legendary Greek epic written by Homer. The story follows Odysseus as he attempts to return home after the Trojan War while battling monsters, gods, temptations, and impossible odds along the way.
The cast is stacked with names including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Lupita Nyong'o. Early reports suggest this may become one of the largest-scale fantasy adventures ever attempted by Nolan.
The exact production budget has not been officially confirmed, but industry reports estimate it could exceed $250 million, making it one of the most expensive films of Nolan's career.
Would we blaze before this one? Absolutely. A giant IMAX screen, mythological creatures, ancient worlds, and Christopher Nolan visuals sounds like a cannabis enthusiast's dream night at the movies.
2. Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31, 2026)
Marvel fans have been waiting for this one.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day follows Peter Parker after the events of No Way Home. Nobody remembers who he is anymore, leaving Peter completely alone as he tries to rebuild his life while continuing to protect New York City.
The film stars Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando, and Sadie Sink.
While Marvel has not officially released the budget, industry estimates place production costs between $200 million and $220 million.
Would we blaze before this one? Most likely. Watching Spider-Man swing through New York while trying to rebuild his life sounds like the perfect mix of action, emotion, and comedy. Add a giant theater sound system and it could be one of the most entertaining experiences of 2026.
3. Resident Evil (September 18, 2026)
Now we're entering dangerous territory.
The newest Resident Evil reboot is directed by Zach Cregger and is expected to lean much closer to the original video games than previous adaptations. The story follows a medical courier caught in the middle of a horrifying viral outbreak as infected creatures begin overrunning the area.
The film stars Austin Abrams, Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser.
The production budget has been reported at approximately $80 million.
Would we blaze before this one? This might be the most debated movie on the list. Some people love horror movies after consuming cannabis. Others would spend the entire film convinced a zombie was sitting three seats behind them. Either way, if the reviews are good, this could become one of the most intense theater experiences of the year.
4. The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender (October 9, 2026)
For fans of the Avatar universe, this is a huge moment.
The Legend of Aang is an animated feature that takes place after the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series and follows an older Aang as he continues his journey as the Avatar.
The voice cast includes many returning and newly announced performers from the Avatar franchise, bringing beloved characters back to the big screen for the first time in years.
Paramount has not officially confirmed the final production budget, though estimates from industry analysts suggest a large-scale animated production in the range of $100 million or more.

Would we blaze before this one? Without hesitation. Beautiful animation, elemental bending, spiritual themes, flying bison, and the Avatar world on a giant theater screen sounds like a perfect match for a relaxed movie night.
So Which One Wins?
If movie theaters ever became legal cannabis consumption lounges, our vote goes to The Legend of Aang for visuals, The Odyssey for pure spectacle, Spider-Man: Brand New Day for action, and Resident Evil if you're feeling brave.
No matter which movie tops your list, 2026 is shaping up to be one of the strongest years for movie fans in recent memory. From ancient Greek adventures and Marvel heroes to zombie outbreaks and elemental masters, there's something for every type of moviegoer.
Until theaters start handing out munchie menus alongside popcorn, we'll just have to imagine what that future movie night might look like.
