Kris Uhlhorn met a group of like minded individuals, they built a studio and later even rented space from the Seattle Glass Blowing Shop which is where Kris spent numerous hours honing in on the crafts and skills of glass blowing, relationships have lasted since, and this is the key to much success. To be able to maintain relationships, and mature your crafts till you can truly develop a route for newcomers through your success.
Later Bill Acres got Kris into a studio for just $25 an hour. The first two years was just hand pipes! In 2001 He was at the Champs Show where he met Tommy Chong. At the Seattle Hemp fest he made $600 in a day, and it blew his mind, at that point he knew that he'd never quit this. Right from the beginning Kris was seeing dollar signs literally, some of his partners today where just 2 years old when Kris first started getting into blowing glass. He hasn't gotten paid outside of starting his own business since day 1. Special K has always been his full time job since 1998.
